Trajectory - Inner Map

Index: Index - OpenWebUI Interface vs Hermes Middleware Stack
Pipeline: CONSTITUTION - Publishable Asset Pipeline · 00 - Master Index
Mode lean: Experiential (face vs brain stack)

1. Prompt spine (human prompts, ordered)

  1. Confirms the split: Open WebUI is interface; Hermes is middleware. People will tool out UIs.
  2. Already has VPS + Nextcloud + Hermes via Telegram. Wants richer visual UI. Can Open WebUI replace Telegram on mobile as primary control?
  3. No Open WebUI installed yet. Owns domain, VPS, Nextcloud, Hermes. Where does Open WebUI fit? Must Telegram be removed, or can both stay under a custom domain?
  4. Conduit / voice / WebSocket: do they burn extra tokens? How does voice work? Is voice on desktop Open WebUI too?
  5. Android primary: is Conduit strictly better than PWA? Paid?
  6. Survey: what does the Hermes community use to power the agent? OpenCode Go vs alternatives? Unknown add-ons?
  7. Content marketing use case: browser scrape/research/sheets? Authenticated logins, form fill, job-portal level automation?
  8. Preference: scrape company + HR emails and personalized outreach over bot-applying on crowded portals. Safer / better?
  9. Systems thinker: linear agent commands feel wasteful. Want visual structure of how agents work and where leverage lives. Roadmaps over command lists.
  10. Ask for a second analogy, simpler elements, more detail.
  11. Ask for diagrams / flowcharts (block + flow) that match visual thinking. 12 to 16. Arc drifts into skills inventory, monetizable zones, high-ticket individual work, anxiety about high-stakes exposure, client clusters, India surfaces. (Present in source; not the face-vs-brain publish spine.)

2. Start state

Already halfway to the architecture. Not shopping for a chatbot brand. Holding a clean mental model: face vs middleware. Real friction is placement and daily access: Hermes lives on a VPS next to Nextcloud, Telegram is the current face, Telegram feels thin for visual work, phone is the primary device. Curiosity is practical and spatial: where does a second face sit without demolishing the stack I already paid for.

3. Transitions and impulses

P1 → P2 (split confirmed → mobile reality)

  • Convinced: the face/brain split is real; keep hunting placement, not product wars.
  • Internal itch: Telegram is fine for quick chat, bad as the only window into a tool-using agent.
  • Constraint locks in: mobile is not optional; if Open WebUI cannot be phone-first, it is not a real face for this life.

P2 → P3 (can it replace Telegram? → where does it fit?)

  • Rejects either/or: does not want to rip Telegram out to prove sophistication.
  • Real-estate frame: domain + VPS + Nextcloud already exists; Open WebUI should be another room, not a rebuild.
  • Director mode: wants coexistence under custom domain / reverse proxy, not a second orphan IP habit.

P3 → P4 to P5 (fit settled → cost and Android client)

  • Cost anxiety, not feature lust: voice sounds cool; token and STT/TTS bill is the real question.
  • Platform choice: Android primary → Conduit vs PWA is a daily UX decision, not a purity debate.
  • Impulse to lock a mobile path before installing anything heavy.

P5 → P6 to P8 (client locked → engine + browser leverage)

  • Blind-spot fear: almost missed Open WebUI; what else is the community using?
  • Work-shaped curiosity: content marketing / research, not engineering ego. Can the brain actually scrape, structure, and sheet data?
  • Frame upgrade: portal spam vs scrape + HR email + personalize. Own strategy seeking validation, then automation shape.

P8 → P9 to P11 (tools available → cannot aim them linearly)

  • Content yanked from “how do I install” to “how do I see the machine.”
  • Rejected frame: chatbots as linear command boxes waste agent potential for a systems thinker.
  • Visual hunger: greenhouse / flywheel / observe-reason-plan-act-refine loops; diagrams preferred over lists.

P12+ (optional later arc in source)

  • Direction shift: from stack architecture to “what should this brain work on for me,” then facilitation / exposure / India clients.
  • Publish cut for this asset: keep that as a separate piece; this trajectory freezes on face vs brain + how a non-linear thinker aims the brain.

4. Inner state arc

PhaseInner state
StartArchitectural clarity already present; missing map of faces around an existing Hermes install.
EarlyPlacement anxiety: mobile, HTTPS, Telegram coexistence, domain real estate.
MidCost and client pickiness: tokens vs voice pipeline; Conduit as daily phone face.
Mid-lateCapability hunger: browser automation for research and outreach pipelines.
Peak (for this piece)Cognitive itch: I need a visual model of the agent loop or I will underuse the stack with linear scraps.
End of stack arcFace is optional and swappable; brain stays; tools and memory sit under Hermes; aim with protocols and loops, not one-line orders.
Source tail (omitted from Final body)Identity / monetization / exposure anxiety about high-ticket sessions.

What was hunted at the end of the publishable arc: a durable mental model: Open WebUI (or Telegram, or Conduit) as interchangeable faces; Hermes as the persistent middleware brain; mobile path secured; agent aimed as recursive research pipeline, not a fancy reply box.

5. Speech habits in this source only

  • Opens mid-thought, as if continuing a prior stack conversation.
  • Long spoken turns that stack constraints before the actual question.
  • “The thing is…”, “I’m just trying to understand…”, “to clarify…”
  • Numbers his own questions after a narrative dump (1. 2. 3.).
  • Seeks validation of his frame: “Don’t you think…” after proposing scrape + HR mail over portal apply.
  • Names cognitive style explicitly: intuitive systems thinker, dislikes linear command lists.
  • Real-estate metaphor for infra: domain, VPS, Nextcloud as owned space.
  • Primary device stated as hard constraint (Android / mobile).
  • Mid-turn self-edit (“Let’s refine this approach!”) when inventorying skills.
  • Later turns become long capability dumps; early turns stay stack-and-placement focused.

Write brief for Final (this slug only)

  • Opening: grow from already-known face vs middleware split + placement problem, not a generic “agents are changing everything.”
  • Spine of article: face vs brain → coexistence on VPS/domain → mobile (PWA / Conduit) → tokens vs STT/TTS → model engines / community add-ons (light) → browser leverage + outreach preference → visual agent models for systems thinkers.
  • Omit from public Final: raw monetization identity monologue, named high-stakes client fantasies beyond general “how you aim the agent,” secrets/keys/IPs.
  • Mode: Experiential. Lived stack story. No stock openers from other Finals. No em/en dashes.
